We just updated it with the nearly 500 items we made and gave to charities in just the Summer and Fall of last year!</span></p>

<p><span>Sole Care for Souls provides free medical foot care for the homeless in the Minneapolis - St. Paul area. When you think about it, homeless people spend much of their time on their feet, without fresh socks and in many cases with ill fitting shoes.</span></p>

We are constantly changing and improving ways we do things. There are so many talented ladies in our group, with so many wonderful ideas!</p>

We want to provide not only warm, but well made items and complete them in the most efficient way possible.&nbsp;This year we decided to make one group blanket each month using 9&rdquo; blocks.&nbsp;&nbsp;Why 9&rdquo; blocks? We felt it was a good size and that the 6&rdquo; block patterns could easily be converted to 9 inches.&nbsp;We are all enjoying the bigger blocks and assembling them is so much easier and goes quicker. It is also nice to have one blanket that everyone works on.&nbsp;</p>

The one thing I love about  the fall is it just feels like &ldquo;knitting weather&rdquo;.</p>
<p>Over the  summer the Halfknits have been busy knitting and crocheting. We try to work on  little projects such as baby items and blocks during the heat of the summer.  When the weather cools down we start assembling large blankets.</p>

In December and January we made over 900 baby hats!&nbsp;We helped our friend Alice in Piggot, Arkansas and a family on Pine Ridge.</p>

These items are gorgeous and will be distributed to the elderly throughout Young County!</p>
<p>This holiday season in honor of Baby Jesus, we are&nbsp;having our <strong>December Baby Hat Challenge</strong>. We encourage you to join us! No matter where you live, I'm sure there is an organization near you in need of baby hats at this time of the year.</p>

Also, please stay away from fun fur or novelty yarn as it comes off easily and can get in babies&rsquo; mouths. With the blocks people brought and the ones that were made that day we were able to make <a href="http://www.halfknits.com/photos/blankets-made-at-our-november-2009-cro-knit-together/">12 baby blankets</a>! We donated 6 blankets to <a href="http://www.loretohouse.org">Loreto House</a> in Denton and 6 to blankets to the Nursery at JPS Hospital in Fort Worth.</p>
<p>The Halfknits had a great time and were happy to have so many people join us that day! The food was delicious, the company delightful and making 12 blankets in 6 hours was a huge accomplishment!</p>
