The Halfknits started the New Year with a bang! In December and January we made over 900 baby hats! We helped our friend Alice in Piggot, Arkansas and a family on Pine Ridge.

Right now we are working on 6” blanket blocks making all sizes of blankets.

Our December monthly meeting was held this past Saturday, and we were excited to have a little bit of newspaper coverage!

We collected shawls, scarves and wheelchair blankets for the elderly in Young County, Texas. These items are gorgeous and will be distributed to the elderly throughout Young County!

This holiday season in honor of Baby Jesus, we are having our December Baby Hat Challenge. We encourage you to join us! No matter where you live, I'm sure there is an organization near you in need of baby hats at this time of the year.

Please use baby or soft yarn when making hats for babies. Their skin is delicate so please do not use scratchy worsted weight yarn. Also, please stay away from fun fur or novelty yarn as it comes off easily and can get in babies’ mouths. Check out our baby hat patterns in our patterns section.

November Cro-Knit-Together: Fun for Us and Warm Blankets for Others!

Our November Cro-Knit-Together was fun and a great success! With the blocks people brought and the ones that were made that day we were able to make 12 baby blankets! We donated 6 blankets to Loreto House in Denton and 6 to blankets to the Nursery at JPS Hospital in Fort Worth.

The Halfknits had a great time and were happy to have so many people join us that day! The food was delicious, the company delightful and making 12 blankets in 6 hours was a huge accomplishment!

We are continually posting new patterns that you can find by clicking one of the links under the "Patterns" heading in the sidebar. We have crochet and knitted block patterns, and patterns for hats, scarves and mittens among other things.

These patterns are submitted by our dedicated members and are free to use. If you choose any of our patterns for yourself or your family, please also consider making some to send to us or give to another charity.

The Halfknits are having a Block Party!

When: Saturday, November 7th from 9 am to 3 pm

Where: Lonesome Dove Baptist Church, 2380 Lonesome Dove Rd, Southlake, TX
(park and enter around back)

Bring your favorite hooks and needles and a skein of pastel worsted weight yarn. We are having a "Salads and Sweets Potluck" so bring something yummy to share!

We will be knitting and crocheting 6-inch blocks to join together into baby blankets for charity.

There will be contests and prizes!

Come join us for a day of fun!

As you may have noticed, the Halfknits web site has undergone a massive face lift! This new format should be easier to use, and provides features that allow us to make updates more quickly than ever before!

Among the new features of the site are:

The Halfknits home page is now a full-fledged blog, allowing us to post updates on events and projects to keep you informed concerning both plans and results.
Our downloadable patterns have been converted to PDF format, making them more convenient to print, and portable to a wider range of computers and browsers.
Our YouTube instructional videos are now available directly on the site. See the link on the right.
