Use 2 strands of Simply Soft Yarn and a size K hook to fit approximate ages 3-5 years
Chain 3, join with a slip stitch to form
ring
Round 1: Chain 2 to count as the first half hdc (hdc), work 15 more hdc in the ring; join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2 (16 hdc)
Round 2: Chain 2 to count as the first hdc, *hdc in the next stitch, work 2 hdc in the next stitch* repeat six more times, hdc in next stitch and hdc in beginning slip stitch, join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2 (24 stitches)
Round 3: Chain 2 to count as the first hdc, *hdc in the next 2 stitches, work 2 hdc in the next stitch* repeat six more times, hdc in next 2 stitches and hdc in beginning slip stitch, join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2 (32 stitches)
Round 4: Chain 2 to count as the first hdc, *hdc in the next 3 stitches, work 2 hdc in the next stitch* repeat six more times, hdc in next 3 stitches and hdc in beginning slip stitch, join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2 (40 stitches)
Round 5: Chain 2 to count as the first hdc, *hdc in the next 4 stitches, work 2 hdc in the next stitch* repeat six more times, hdc in next 4 stitches and hdc in beginning slip stitch, join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2 (48 stitches)
Round 6-19: Chain 2 to count as the first hdc, hdc in each stitch around (do not hdc in beginning slip stitch), join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 2. Fasten off. Weave in ends (48 stitches)
Alternatives:
To add a different colored cuff: Fasten off color A after
round 14. Join color B into slip stitch and work hdc in each stitch around for remaining 5 rounds.
Add pom-pom to top of hat.
